12 Gross Gifts for Valentine’s Day

A recent statistic stated that 15% of women give themselves flowers on Valentine’s Day. While we find that figure questionably high, even if it’s half as many, it proves the amount of total oddballs wondering around on this lonely blue marble.

The Most Hilarious Facebook Reviews for Haunted Attractions

Gross Computer

The Internet has put an entire world of information and answers at our fingertips, forever changing the way we interact and learn. The Internet has also given people the opportunity to publicly review anything they want.

I’m not saying this is an entirely bad thing. I use services like Yelp fairly frequently to discover some off-the-beaten-path restaurants and stores. At the same time, I know I’ve probably overlooked some really amazing places simply because they had one or two negative reviews or even worse – no reviews at all.

Recently, I came across a few Facebook pages of some quality haunted houses and saw some completely irrational and unfair reviews. Rather than dwell on the potential bummer this is for our friends who pour their hearts and souls into their haunted houses, we decided to showcase a few of the funniest we found.

Seems like this should’ve been a five star rating, right?

Seven Examples of How Amazing UV Paint Can Be

Being totally honest with you, I’m a sucker for 3d blacklight paint of all kinds. Something about those colors just brings out the incense-burning 14 year old weirdo kid inside. For others, I’m sure the appeal is a bit different. In addition to being visually impressive, a good UV paint scene transports your guest into a completely ethereal world, making it that much easier to unsettle and horrify them.

As the blacklight-sensitive images painted are memorable and attract so much attention to the artistry in this industry, we figured it’s about time to tip our torn and tattered hats to some of the best people making blacklight paintings in haunted houses and attractions of all kinds. So in no particular order, check out these nine amazing artists.

New Ape Escape Prop from FrightProps!

Is it a monkey? Is it an ape? Who cares, its jaws are covered in blood and it’s thrashing around like it’s in an Exodus mosh-pit. Whether it’s an ape or a monkey, we call this fine product downright terrifying. And it’s available here.

Oh sure, it may look like a cute little creature we’ve made scary, but isn’t there a chance that these animals are actually dangerous?

The Old Warehouse and New Scary Props

FrightProps has gone through a number of changes over the years. Five different locations amongst three different states – Colorado, Minnesota, and Florida. While we have all sorts of ancient prototypes and relics from the old days scattered around the shop, we don’t have a ton of pictures of the past.

And you’re about to see why.

More Gross Stuff Around the Office

We don’t have a particularly large team here at FrightProps. Fortunately, what we lack in numbers we make up for in character. As mentioned in a previous posts, our Creative Director is also a morbid taxidermist – and a pretty accomplished one, too. Him and a few other people co-founded the Minnesota Association of Rogue Taxidermy and helped pioneer the genre that’s gleefully disgracing the backwoods art. In a way, you can thank him for all of the horrible disgusting taxidermy you see rocking Facebook and Reddit all the time.

Described as “the Archimedes of our century” (in the 17th century), Manfredo Settala was kind of an odd duck. A cleric and the son of a physician in Milan, he collected various scientific oddities. His gallery was classified and separated into three sections – objects provided to man by nature, creations of man, and curiosities. At one point, his collection was so famous for its’ rarities that princes, queens, and dukes sought the gallery out for their own viewing amusement.
