A TRUE STORY
Five years ago, our Creative Director and I were wandering around the train tracks here in Minnesota with some of our props in hand with the intent of going into the woods and filming them. We were carrying a foam-filled dead dog and dragging a few of these skinned fox props along the ground.
After we were done filming, we heard a train as we were walking back. Far off into a distance, we heard the train horn. Eventually, the train got closer to us and began to slow down until it finally stopped.
A burly guy in overalls climbed out and walked towards us. As he got closer, he started to back away and put his hands up, yelling, “DON’T COME ANY CLOSER! STAY THERE! STAY THERE!”
Confused, we stopped and all stared at each other. Eventually, we yelled back and forth until we realized he thought our skinned fox and dead dog halloween props were actually real dead animals we were dragging through the woods.
“I THOUGHT YOU GUYS WERE SATANISTS DOING WEIRD STUFF IN THE WOODS, MAN.”
So there you have it. Halloween props so good that they stop trains in their tracks.
